Descriptive Essay-HOW FORTUNATE ARE YOU?

Have you ever felt so alone and hopeless? Perhaps you might say that these feelings are usual for people thriving in this whole wide world that we live in. Sad to say, you may be correct. These feelings are usual but I can say temporal. But, have you ever known of a person who experiences these every now and then? A person accustomed to these emotions? One who would say that these feelings are not anymore new to him, but part of his journey as days go by?
Well, let me share with you a glimpse of the life of a person I usually see as I stand near my brother’s mini store at night. This person stands about 5’7” in height ( if his neck would somehow be normally erect), has a Moreno skin (maybe due to hard work during the day) and carries a load of what we call as “ballot”. I don’t really care about how ballot and penoy got to existence in my writing. What I’m after was the genuine character I see in this ballot vendor.
Probably it would be better if we just call him by the name “Iko”. I have seen him crossing the streets at night selling his stuff to bystanders’ and drivers waiting for passengers. He caught my attention not just because of his unique way of selling his goods.  Take note-UNIQUE. Why? Probably its because he never calls upon his buyers by shouting. He just let the buyers notice him. Probably brought about by his difficulty to talk or timidity. Well, you can’t blame him for that because he’s physical appearance would set you mute of it.
I was just puzzled by the way he tries to do his job despite his incapability. He never felt the truth that there might be other people (especially those who are having their good time and on the high influence of alcohol) who would just tease and abuse him especially in the weak hours of the long night. I’m just captivated by his eagerness to earn a living for the night .I’m so inspired by his spirit! At times, I would tend to fell pity of him but I just come to think that instead of feeling sorry for him, I should even feel proud. Why? Because still there are persons who are despite of their capabilities does not merely depend on luck. He depends more on his faith that someday somehow his life would be better. I admire him so much to the point that if I could make this writing sent to the president or any millionaire like Pacman, I would try to tell him how this simple guy could inspire a lot of us to change and be  renewed from our wicked ways. How we can be better than what we use to be. How strong this weak man would seem to persons he would come to deal with. Honestly, as I’m writing this, I have realized one thing- little angels may be concealed in their half wounded wings. God is so great that his wisdom tries to make man realize how wonderful life could be. How conceited persons try to value fame and power over happiness and peace. Somewhat others may have all the luck in this world but some people only need a bit of it to gain through happiness.
I do hope that I did not just give you the chance to read a usual article but a chance to rediscover how fortunate you are by now.

Descriptive: Nature Escapade

Everyone chooses a comfortable place to escape from stressful days for relaxation. If a person wants  to be alone, and he does`nt  want to be disturbed, he  intends to commune  with nature.
My favorite place is where cool, cascading water invites anyone to  forget anxieties and problems for some time. It relaxes me like no other
 place could, A FALL.
I love sitting on a big rock and listening to the sounds of nature that surrounds me, especially  during the unstoppable breaking of the dawn of summer time. One of the sounds I tuned  to first is the sound of the forest birds singing and chirping away as if they are creating a song  in their own way  of communicating. After  satisfying the sounds,I`ll welcome  the soft  touch of the breeze  that  gently touches my skin, coming down through the trees. It is considerably,an uncomparable experience  in a countryside that  can never be experienced in a city or town. That`s why,I  love nature.
When I look around me, the tall sturdy trees   with  thick green  leaves ,closely standing side by side gives me  unexplained serenity  that I  can see no reason to be afraid of. Then I see  colorful pastel forest flowers around. Their delicate petals that magnify innocence and fragility soothes the innermost of me.  The  clear ,blue sky is a great landscape with few,cotton-like clouds, silently inviting  anyone to fabricate sweet and memorable moments .I definitely expresses appreciation and gratitude to God for creating a place which is almost a paradise and is just within man`s reach.
I  don`t either  feel no emptiness with nature.I can say that I absolutely feel peace of mind and calmness  whenever I am  listening, feeling, and looking at the greatness of  God`s special gift of creation to mankind.

THE ANIME MAN

The Anime Man

Anime is a popular animated caricature. My favorite pastime, during teenage years, was watching anime. Typically, I preferred genres of romance, action, and fiction.  I give high regard to the artists because of their excellent skills. I got fascinated with the facial expression, eye style and body proportions.  The male character that represents high society, the heroes of a country or town, seems like real.  I used to dream to be an anime figure because I like the male character as my partner… Their physical features were incomparably handsome.

Rodulfo Seno a.k.a Kidd Shiki Hiwata-ji, the only child in a family, was born on August 1986. He has a fair complexion, and typical Filipino built and height. He was a graduate of BS Accountancy in one of the prestigious University at Mandaue Cebu. He was truly, an avid fan of anime that he had given up his job and enrolled to Animation course.  He joins Cosmo Play, and HOBCON (Hobby Convention) in different venues. If I had checked his attendance, probably I had given him 100% rating. He speaks Cebuano, Filipino, Nihongo and English. He loves to eat Japanese dishes. A collector of Anime stuffs. That guy loves to wear Caps, and White and Black Shirts.

He was once my officemate and friend.  In my stay at Mandaue, Cebu he became my light and shining armor. On the 5th day of my training, he accompanied me to the Staff House because our co-worker (Manuel) went home late. We had a walk to look for the church nearest to the lodging. I felt secure and protected whenever he was around. He acknowledged  He was definitely a modest gentleman.  Sometimes, He cracked silly joke in our jamming. He has a mysterious side particularly while discussing about anime. He has an enticing eyes and smile. He is good looking and grooming.

Due to call of duty he had gone to Manila office, where I was transferred, to audit documents and branch expense reports. We spent our time in SM North Edsa, had pictorial, window shopping and took a dinner in Shintoya.  When he was about to leave, we had the last hug that reminds me, that once I had a nice and charming friend.

Once in my life I became an anime and he was my partner in simple adventure called life. I believe that someday, he will be a famous cartoonist both in Philippines and around the world.

A Dwelling Place

" All things bright and beautiful,All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful--The lord God made them all." This line from the poem of C.F Alexander come across my mind as I enjoy the captivating beauty of nature one blessed Sunday morning.
I sit nearby a big polished rock beside a clear sparkling spring. It was located under the shade of gigantic trees. I slowly stand and watch the sun rise above the horizon while the sky glows in warm tones of gold and mirror an absolutely stunning reflection. Below this scene lies a luminous hill painted with shimmering jade that glitters in the distance. Birds are soaring freely as they sing in sweet melodious voices that fill the morning breeze with charming music.
I take a step further to wander around. There are lots of coconut trees that teemed with fruits and so the golf-ball sizes of green mangoes are found in abundance. Hanging from guava trees are succulent fruits that looks like a glistening chandeliers. Bedecked around the huge trees are tall green grasses with some lovely flowers possessing frilly petals that invites colorful butterflies to roam around.
As the beauty of nature mesmerize my sight, the other part of me asked "Until when a place like this will exist?". We know that modernization is one among the reason why environment like this are slowly fading. The clean, fresh air and green surroundings already changed. There are smokes from cars and factories that causes global warming. The pile of garbage causes great flood and extreme pollution. Earth should not be destroyed because of its progress. Remember we were created to be the caretaker of God's  wonderful creations  and if we're going to look into reality, we are the one seeking havoc and chaos to the environment.
Let's not wait that this sight that mesmerize me will just be a face of the past. Let us change the possible life the next generation might have.In our own little way, we can help to preserve the environment we once had. We must possess self-discipline and encourage others to help rebuild the situation of our environment.
As my thought was deeply preoccupied by the current situation of our environment, I gaze around the place where I am. I'm still thankful that this place was still endowed with natural beauty of nature finely sculpt by the majestic touch of Almighty God. This treasured place has been a witness of my childhood years. This rare beauty of nature is located in the place where I born.#juliecabiles#

OUR NATURE GROUND

Our Nature Ground
By Dina F. Comboy

Home is where everything starts. Every life demands for a cradle to grow, mature, hope, and aspire. Every life requires a motherland to be able to thrive. It is a requisite reality just like the stars that needs the sky to exist, just like fishes that cannot survive without water, just like plants that needs sunlight to flourish, just like birds that claim air for their wings and just like a baby that cry out for a mother. Probably, we cannot be able to dispense the place where we truly belong. A home is where our heart is.

Philippines is what we call home. A land made perfect because of its imperfections. An awe-inspiring gift from God above, a stupendous beauty fits for a king and we, Filipinos are worthy to own this sanctuary.

In the southeast of Asia, in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, lies an exceptional archipelago that stand marvelously and strike everyone perplexed. The Philippines is even more blessed for having the tenure of such wonderful tourist spots and landmarks that attracts foreign people to visit and invest in our country. Aside from these natural and man-made wonders, our country also have and hold natural resources and a tropical climate perfect for biodiversity. But these natural treasures began to disappear one by one in a wink of an eye. Who is to blame? The alarming climate change itself is not the sole cause for this problem, we can always blame humanity because we triggered global warming. Because of man-made chemical pollution and the continuing deforestation, the ozone layer continue to thin down. Why not plant trees instead to save mother earth and our motherland and also to save ourselves from getting our tragic share of consequences.

Moreover, the culture here in the Philippines is undeniably rich not to mention those folk dances, songs, poems and epics from different regions and provinces but are endangered to be buried down anytime because of the inevitable and dazzling rapidity of the progress in terms of technological advancement in our country As it continue to go farther, we tend to be swallowed and overly attached to electronic devices that make forget our responsibility of cultivating these cultures and traditions handed down by our forefathers. The lifestyles of all Filipinos also began to change. There is no harm in our desire to move forward but it is wrong to leave behind those cultures that remind us of our origin and true identity.

Philippines is a free country. Indeed, we are lucky to be living with absolute freedom in our hands but this freedom is the most abused today. On the other hand, in terms of economy, we do not belong in the underdeveloped nations in the world. Yet, we cannot deny the fact that our country is amidst of poverty. However, it is certain that the government is doing its part to face this quest but with unity, everything will fall in place God’s perfect time.

Our country is more than enough, if we could just see. The Philippines is something that we should be proud of and something to conserve otherwise the next generation will no longer witness the grandiosity of the pearl of the orient seas. Our land had made its impact on our lives sine then and it will continue on doing that for sure. And as a sign of gratitude, let us at least practice nationalism by being loyal to our country. Let us not be contented of being just a Filipino by birth or by blood, why not try to be a Filipino by heart? Somewhere in every Filipinos heart, there will always be a fragment for our native land.

“My Memorable Place

“My Memorable Place”

By: Ma. Theresa Clerigo
I was given a chance to visit Gumayon, Negros Occidental, one of the concealed places in the province where in panoramic view was preserved. It was very provincial but the nature’s secret was kept. I clearly remember when my on my way there, the emerald shade produced by vigorous different kinds of trees were smiling and alluring me to join them. However, what I first saw was just superficial for its hidden beauty waited as I explored the place especially when I went around the surrounding area where the sun ate away the darkness. Since it was miles away from the city, I had to climb up of the mountain; But, as I finally reached its zenith, I could step on the fogs as they rose going up to the sky and formed as clouds; I could feel that I was on the top of the world, thus the cold dewdrops touched my toes as they dispersed and gone along with the air.
After a while, I didn’t know that I still had to clamber down to finally reach that astonishing place. From there, I stayed in my grandfather’s ancestral house. At Nearby, I could see the hills planted with rice. Their fronds were swaying and dancing as the wind blew. Some were brimming with the golden yellow grains ready to harvest.  At the backyard, an array of different trees weighed down with copious fruits that were mouthwatering. On the side were the bountiful vegetables watered with love and care. Those plants were within a reach which served as our  everyday food.
My cousins took me to one part of their place which truly took my breath away; to my surprised, they let me rode at the back of the carabao, thus, I  felt the tail of it at my behind as it swung from side to side. As I got there, I was amazed to what I saw! The river was crystal clear; the pebbles were like diamonds that glittered in the water. I even bathe in the river and it felt good knowing that the river was unpolluted. I didn’t even see any refuse nor trash instead just dried leaves falling from the trees that surround it but I was oblivious as to where the water took the leaves as they swam away from my sight. Furthermore at night, the place was covered with darkness since there was no electricity in the place, however, thanks to the moonlight for it lightened the entire place plus the flashing lights of fireflies were everywhere providing at least a little bit of glow that made the night more beautiful. The stars were like diamonds illuminated in the sky and thus, it made me realized indeed how spectacular the place was. For me, it was really the best place I have ever been so far.
Whatever I experienced from that place will be kept in my heart and memory forever because I know that it might be my first and last time seeing that place as beautiful and conserved as it was. I hope that the people living there will continually take good care of their environment as much as they care and value themselves. In addition to that, I am hoping that someday I can revisit there before death calls me.

THE GIRL (Descriptive Essay)

 THE GIRL

Ms. Mae Desiree C. Coros

What is life like for a seventeen year old girl? At this age, this is the time that a girl experiences the sweetness of being admired and admiring someone. For others, it is the time that they plan for their career and decide on what will they become five years from now. Some take life easy at this age. Enjoying what they have and working to gain what they do not possess.

For a college girl I know life is a battlefield. She was one of the curious souls who ask questions just for the sake of asking and resolve the enigmatical questions that puzzle her thoughts about the existence of something or someone. The face of a woman that never shows animosity for she never fails to create an illusion deviating from her real emotions and dreadful emptiness. The flimsy built of her body may seem to be real but despite of her effeminate manner is a tested strength and endless struggle. Soon she transformed into a more beautiful woman like a butterfly in a metamorphosis; contented, happy and free.

On the long run, I have proven I am right on my perception to her but much remains an assumption as I began to know her deeper. She experienced lots of heart breaking trials with her family that nobody wishes to endure. From the separation of her parents and siblings to the excruciating causes of family chaos knocked me for I am caught in the delusion that her smiles created. Despite of these miseries she managed to continue her life even without direction. She is a manifestation that a flimsy-looking body is not a measure of vehemence; it is how you face the world everyday with a smile despite of its imperfections. For her, life is a battlefield; a continuous struggle and a test of survival. A woman of strength and virtue is indeed an inspiration. Another person to touch other people’s imperfect lives; not for perfection but to continue to be an inspiration.

DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY

DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY

WHITE BEACH OF MANITO ALBAY
By Anabelle B. Añonuevo

If you want to find a place where you could just relax from your stressful job and noise or pollution in the city, there is a great escapade near you.

For me, the perfect place to spend the weekend or summer time is the White Beach in Barangay Malobago, Manito, Albay. Why is this so? Find out in this essay.

To be able to reach White Beach, you need to ride a jeepney from Old Albay or Legazpi City Terminal. Just tell the driver to bring you to the White Beach. After a 40-minute ride, get off the jeepney and continue your journey. On your way to the beach, you will feel a difference in the air. Compared to the city, the air there is absolutely fresh. You will feel some leaves touching your skin as you walk along the narrow passage. You will also hear the beautiful chirps of birds. And if you’re lucky enough, you could see different kinds of colorful birds that you thought, you can only find in the Wild Life Park.

When you reach the care taker’s house, you just have to pay three pesos for your entrance fee. (It is quite cheap right?) But if you think, that the place is cheap too, well, you are wrong.

After paying the entrance fee, you can now continue your walk. The soil there is quite muddy if you happen to go there after a rain. But surely, you will find it enjoyable taking the trek. In order to reach the beach, there are few steps to walk on going down the sea shore. There, you will have to hold on to the roots of huge trees for you not to stumble. Going down the beach is quite risky but if you’re an adventurer, you will find it fun.

Once you reach the beach, you might just want to take a very deep breath because of the trek that you’ve been through, but mind you… it’s worth it.

The beige sand could convince you to leave your slippers and feel the fine sand like you are having your foot spa. You will find big rocks under the Talisay trees which are nice to sit on. And as you sit on a big rock, you can never help yourself but stare at the majestic Mayon Volcano. Plus the water which is too clear and cool, that you will never have a second thought of plunging in.

If there is an available banca, you may just ask the native people to trip you around the place so you could see the astonishing corrals in different shades. You may give them a tip for their labor.

I will never forget the time, when I experienced swimming with jelly fish in that very beach. And we even experienced buying fresh fish from a fisherman and trying to grill it using the available resources like twigs and leaves from the trees. There was a spring (burabod as they call it) at the foot of the mountain where we got water to clean up the fish. By the way, don’t forget to bring your own food because since it’s a far flung barangay, you might not find the foods or things that you want.

White beach is irresistibly unforgettable. So, next time you plan for a trip, try visiting the White Beach of Manito Albay. Before going to other regions, visit our own spot which is equally beautiful yet, you don’t have to spend a lot of money just to have fun.
