DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY

DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY

WHITE BEACH OF MANITO ALBAY
By Anabelle B. Añonuevo

If you want to find a place where you could just relax from your stressful job and noise or pollution in the city, there is a great escapade near you.

For me, the perfect place to spend the weekend or summer time is the White Beach in Barangay Malobago, Manito, Albay. Why is this so? Find out in this essay.

To be able to reach White Beach, you need to ride a jeepney from Old Albay or Legazpi City Terminal. Just tell the driver to bring you to the White Beach. After a 40-minute ride, get off the jeepney and continue your journey. On your way to the beach, you will feel a difference in the air. Compared to the city, the air there is absolutely fresh. You will feel some leaves touching your skin as you walk along the narrow passage. You will also hear the beautiful chirps of birds. And if you’re lucky enough, you could see different kinds of colorful birds that you thought, you can only find in the Wild Life Park.

When you reach the care taker’s house, you just have to pay three pesos for your entrance fee. (It is quite cheap right?) But if you think, that the place is cheap too, well, you are wrong.

After paying the entrance fee, you can now continue your walk. The soil there is quite muddy if you happen to go there after a rain. But surely, you will find it enjoyable taking the trek. In order to reach the beach, there are few steps to walk on going down the sea shore. There, you will have to hold on to the roots of huge trees for you not to stumble. Going down the beach is quite risky but if you’re an adventurer, you will find it fun.

Once you reach the beach, you might just want to take a very deep breath because of the trek that you’ve been through, but mind you… it’s worth it.

The beige sand could convince you to leave your slippers and feel the fine sand like you are having your foot spa. You will find big rocks under the Talisay trees which are nice to sit on. And as you sit on a big rock, you can never help yourself but stare at the majestic Mayon Volcano. Plus the water which is too clear and cool, that you will never have a second thought of plunging in.

If there is an available banca, you may just ask the native people to trip you around the place so you could see the astonishing corrals in different shades. You may give them a tip for their labor.

I will never forget the time, when I experienced swimming with jelly fish in that very beach. And we even experienced buying fresh fish from a fisherman and trying to grill it using the available resources like twigs and leaves from the trees. There was a spring (burabod as they call it) at the foot of the mountain where we got water to clean up the fish. By the way, don’t forget to bring your own food because since it’s a far flung barangay, you might not find the foods or things that you want.

White beach is irresistibly unforgettable. So, next time you plan for a trip, try visiting the White Beach of Manito Albay. Before going to other regions, visit our own spot which is equally beautiful yet, you don’t have to spend a lot of money just to have fun.
