EARTH'S ADVERSARY

EARTH’S ADVERSARY
By: Dina F. Comboy

Change has taken its toll and even our Earth was not spared. This change is rapidly attacking us like a spear from nowhere. This is not the better change we would want to absorb; this is something we can’t imagine if it continues. We can always run but can we hide from getting our tragic share of consequences? Is it really time to say goodbye to our Mother Earth?

There is nothing constant here on Earth but change. Change is everywhere and it’s either we accept it or decline it because not all change are favorable as it seems.
There are changes that nurture us but sometimes break us just like the so called climate change that poses a threat to the lives of humanity and all living things on Earth. Certainly, we can feel this change. It is weird that it’s so cold at night and experience intense heat in the morning. Summer also start so early as unexpected. The weather is also very unpredictable from sunny to rainy days. We’ve been also visited by numbers of destructive typhoons lately. How can we survive and adjust in these rapid changes? Can we be able to outrun this climate change? Who is to blame for these attacks? It is very obvious that global warming has something to do with this. This increase in Earth’s temperature causes corresponding changes in climate. This is the reason why it is so hot in some parts of the world that may cause sunburn and skin cancer. Because of excess greenhouse gases, global warming become more dangerous and an Earth’s adversary. This is all because of man-made pollution from vehicles, factories, and dirt that causes the thinning down of the ozone layer which is our shield against too much radiation from the sun to enter the Earth’s atmosphere. Therefore, global warming is not the only culprit who generated global warming? Blame ourselves humans! We are the ones who brought this curse to ourselves. We are also an Earth’s adversary instead of becoming its guardians.

The Earth’s fate lies in our hands because we are the only responsible and capable of protecting the Earth. Certainly, we don’t want our home ground to befall in such tragic end. This is a matter of life and death. Dedicate ourselves to green adversaries such as planting trees and recycling that is of big help to rebuild our Earth. It is also important to practice proper waste management at home, school, public places and everywhere. Saving energy is also an essential movement. It may be hard to stop climate change yet even in our own special ways, we can be able to share support for this battle by just becoming a responsible human and be able to encourage others and open their eyes to what our mother Earth is all about and what it can be without these adversaries.
